SCBIZ Operational Excellence in Manufacturing Awards Nomination
Universal Eligibility Requirements
- Must operate in or directly serve South Carolina’s manufacturing sector
- Minimum of 2 years in current role at time of nomination
- Nominations may be submitted by peers, supervisors, direct reports, or the nominee themselves
- Applications submitted by the nominee.
- Recipients must be available to attend the November 4 awards luncheon
Judging Criteria (Scored by Panel)
All nominations will be evaluated by an independent judging panel using the following six pillars:
- Operational Impact
Quantifiable improvements in efficiency, throughput, cost reduction, scrap/waste reduction, or facility uptime. Data-backed results are strongly preferred.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Adoption of new processes, technologies, or methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, automation, etc.) that created lasting, measurable change within the organization.
- Safety & Compliance Excellence
Reduction in incident rates, OSHA compliance leadership, or a demonstrable culture-level transformation in workplace safety.
- People Leadership & Culture
Investment in workforce development, employee retention, DEI initiatives, apprenticeship programs, or measurable improvements in employee engagement.
- Community & Economic Impact
Contributions to South Carolina’s economic growth, local hiring, educational pipeline development, or community partnerships tied to manufacturing.
- Resilience & Adaptability
Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively through disruption — whether supply chain challenges, rapid growth, market shifts, or other significant operational pressures.
